About Department

The B.com Program was established in the year 1979. It is presently a Six Semester, Spread over three year program. Dr. N.B. Mudnur, Prof. S.L Metri and present Principal Dr. S.S. Choragi lead the department successfully. Two permanent and six temporary faculty are working hard to shape the personalities of students.
There are 29 pure commerce subjects taught at UG level. The only objective of establishing commerce department was to provide quality commerce and management education that may bring bread and butter to the rural and economically backward area Students. Through industrial visits, banking Company visits and arranging special lectures, on topics of relevance, capacity and confidence building activities related to Stock exchange functioning etc. are conducted. The department follows the syllabus designed by RCU, Belagavi.

Mission:
To create and maintain conducive environment that protects and promotes interests of all sections of the society.
Objectives of the Program:

1. To update the knowledge horizons of students through organizing fests, Seminars, conferences etc.
2. To enrich computing skills of Students.
3. To encourage inculcating moral and ethical values in business and Management.
4. To empower students with skills to secure jobs and become entrepreneurial.
5. To introduce short -term value added courses.
6. To provide knowledge about recent methods of marketing return filing, project preparation and conducting of meetings.

Teaching, Learning and Evaluation:
Interactive method, Group discussion, case study Method, computer assisted teaching and online teaching methods during covid-19 pandemic have been used besides the traditional chalk and talk method. Feedback from the students is collected to know the level of satisfaction for further improvements. Students also learn from internet, homework, project work, Guest lecturers etc.
The evaluation of students takes place in two ways. One semester end examinations conducted by Rani Channamma University Belagavi. for 80marks and “Internal assessment for 20 marks, which include two tests, tutorials, assignments and participation in various  co-curricular  and extracurricular  activities.
Extension and Outreach Activities.
Through NSS, NCC and YRC units students, take part in extensions and outreach activities, which allow students to mingle with society and understand their problems.

Value Added Courses:
A value added course also is started form the academic year 2016-17 to give the students benefit of supporting certificate.

Consultancy | MOUS:
The faculty do free consultancy by way of helping the people to open accounts, transferring funds & filing of income tax returns etc.. The senior faculty even advice the farmers in follow organic methods of cultivation, soil fertility, water management etc.
