ANTI-RAGGING CELL
Ragging is prohibited under the Indian Penal Code, 1860. The Regulators of higher education (UGC) noted promptly by making the necessary Rules and Regulations to curb the menace of ragging in all the educational institutions. Its body at Institutional level to establish measures for Prohibiting, Preventing and Punishing Activities of Ragging menace within and outside the campus in accordance with UGC Regulations, Supreme Court Directives and State Act. It is responsible for taking against those found guilty of ragging and or abetting ragging, actively or passively, or being part of a conspiracy to promote ragging.
COMPOSITION OF ANTI-RAGGING CELL
The College has constituted a Committee as the Anti-Ragging Cell headed by the Head of the Institution, and a diverse mix of faculty, management and senior students to avoid any form of conflict that could take the ugly form of ragging.
The Anti-Ragging Cell of the college is very vigilant all the times. As a proactive measure a student led campaign of awareness against ragging has been initiated at the beginning of the academic year. Through this campaign the student volunteers addressed the Senior Students about the ill effects & consequences of ragging. These volunteers also addressed the freshers in the college and advised them to be alert, aware and report any incidents of ragging in the campus hence SSAC Campus is a Ragging Free Campus.
Functions of Anti-Ragging Cell
1. To ensure compliance with the provision of these regulations and any law for the time being in force concerning ragging and to deal and act promptly with the incidents of ragging brought to its notice.
2. To keep tabs on the happening of events related to, in Campus or Off- campus or other designed places in the premises.
3. To conduct such enquiry observing a fair and transparent procedure and the principles of natural justice and after giving adequate opportunity to the student or students accused of ragging and other witness to place before it the facts, documents and views concerning the incident of ragging and considering such other relevant information as may be required.
4. To monitor and observe in the functions and performance of the Anti-Ragging committee in prevention and curbing or ragging in the institution.
5. To conduct an on-the-spot enquiry into any incident of ragging referred to it by the Head of the Institution or any member of the faculty or any member of the Staff or any student or any parent or guardian or any employee of a service provider or any other person, as the case may be: and the enquiry report along with recommendations shall be submitted to the Anti-Ragging Committee for action under clauses (a) of Regulation 9.1 of UGC.
6. Also to monitor the welfare of fresh students outside the campus.
7. To be vigilant at all hours including at odd hours all around the campus and other places vulnerable to incidents of, and having the potential of ragging and shall be empowered to inspect such places.
ADMINISTRATIVE ACTION IN THE EVENT OF RAGGING
The Institution shall punish the student found guilty of ragging after following the procedure and in the manner prescribed herein under:
- The Anti-Ragging Committee of the Institution shall take an appropriate decision, in regard to punishment or otherwise, depending on the facts of each incident of ragging and nature and gravity of the incident of ragging established in the recommendations of the Anti-Ragging Committee.
- The Anti-Ragging Committee depending on the nature and gravity of the guilt will follow up the punishment based on the committee’s decision.
- Further the Institution can refer to the Affiliating University to act according to the UGC Regulations and State Act on curbing the menace of ragging.
PUNISHMENTS
- As per the Supreme Court judgment on ragging in the Colleges, the following actions will be taken on those students who indulge in ragging Withholding of scholarships, fellowships & results.
- Debarring from representation in events and appearing for tests/examinations and also consequent admission to any other institution
- Withdrawing benefits like travel concessions and campus selections
Registration of FIR against the accused and Prosecution under the Indian Penal Code, 1860.

CELL AGAINST SEXUAL HARASSMENT (CASH)
As per the guidelines of UGC and the Supreme Court an Anti-Sexual Harassment Cell has been established by the college to provide a healthy atmosphere to the students of the college. As per the Supreme Court Judgment and guidelines issued in the year 1997 to provide for the effective enforcement of the basic human right of gender equality and guarantee against sexual harassment and abuse, more particularly against sexual harassment at work places, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued circulars since 1998, to all the universities, advising them to establish a permanent cell and a committee and to develop guidelines to combat sexual harassment, violence against women and ragging in colleges and universities. Keeping the above guidelines in mind the institution has constituted a Cell against Sexual Harassment.

- To promote awareness among students about gender justice and harmonious coexistence through campaigns and other awareness programs.

The cell considers sexual harassment to include unwelcome sexually determined behavior whether directly or by implication such as
- A demand or request for sexual favors.
- Sexually colored remarks.
- Showing of pornography.
- Any other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of sexual nature
The following issues also come under the purview of the committee
- Eve-teasing and Unsavory remarks.
- Jokes causing or likely to cause discomfort or embarrassment.
- Gender-based insults or sexist remarks.
- Unwelcome sexual overtone in any manner such as over telephone (obnoxious telephone calls) and the like.
- Touching or brushing against any part of the body and the like.
- Displaying of pornographic or other offensive or derogatory pictures, cartoons, pamphlets or sayings.
- Forcible physical touch or molestation
- Physical confinement against one’s will and any other act likely to violate one’s privacy.
GRIEVANCES AND REDRESSAL CELL (GRC)
The Grievance and Redressal Cell desires to promote and maintain a conducive and unprejudiced environment for its stakeholders. It attends to the grievances and complaints registered by anyone with regard to the activities of the Institution, and in particular, those made by students. The Cell ensures effective solution to the grievances, using a fair approach.
The Grievance and Redressal Cell enables the students to express their grievances by initiating and following the grievance procedure in accordance with the rules and regulations of the College. The cell meets periodically, examines the nature and pattern of the grievances and redresses it accordingly.

Functions of the Grievance and Redressal Cell
- Provides information about the Cell's objectives and mode of operation through the website and handbook.
- Informs students of the process for registering of grievances in the Induction Programs.
- Acknowledges and analyzes the grievances.
- Seeks a solution through decision-making process.
- Reports the grievances and records how they were redressed.
- The procedures made known through the Hand-book, given to each student at the beginning of every academic year, and also in the Value Education classes taken by the Class-in Charge teachers.
Procedures
The Grievance and Redressal Cell shall receive and redress the grievances of the following issues:
- Academic issues pertaining to teaching, learning and evaluation activities.
- Student-teacher, student-student grievances.
- Grievances related to library and ICT services.
- Grievances related to sports, cultural.
- Grievances related to behavior of stakeholders.
- Grievances related to infrastructure.
- The grievances shall be redressed depending on the nature of the grievance. The Grievances are invited through suggestion boxes provided in each floor of the building.
- Department level counseling is offered where the matter can be resolved.
- Grievances pertaining to academic and internal evaluation shall be redressed at individual/faculty /HOD/ principal level.
- For other grievances that require review shall be redressed by receiving written and signed application.
STUDENT WELFARE CELL
Student Welfare Cell provides an ideal platform for students to participate in Co-Curricular and Extracurricular activities. Co-curricular and Extra-curricular activities at the campus and provide a platform for students to hone their leadership, interpersonal, intrapersonal and team skills with strong ethics and enhance their physical fitness too as a significant part of a student’s overall development. Fests and events are conducted comprehensively during the academic year through which the students get an opportunity to showcase their talent in distinct areas. The events and fests motivate the students to think innovatively and improve their exposure to a host of co-curricular activities. The campus life in the college is as enriching and enlightening as core academics. Office of Student Welfare encourages co-curricular and extracurricular activities for UG/PG students from their first year. The mandate of the Student Welfare Office is to coordinate and regulate all aspects of student life at the campus. These activities are voluntary and promote self-development, help to understand the societal needs, and develop civic sense in the students’ minds.
With this in view, various Associations, Clubs etc. have been promoted in the campus under the aegis of Student Welfare Cell. The student associated activities are overseen by the Associate Dean (Student Affairs). The activities taken up under Student Welfare Cell is to, build community and belonging on campus, lifelong friendship and human connections, explore hobbies and passions, serve the local and global community using academic experiences, develop leadership competencies and career skills.

DISCIPLINE COMMITTEE - 2020 -2021
Education should bring in moral ethical values of well-being to learners and every educator and educating institutions should strive hard to bring in the core human values in the process of learning and focus on quality approach to ensure better living with better educated countrymen. Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment ensures strict rules and regulations for students on behalf of discipline committee.

The responsibilities of Committee are as follows:
- To maintain and enforce strict discipline within the college campus.
- All the students should wear their ID Cards while they are in the campus and their respective class rooms.
- In case of any violation of dress code or disturbance in the class, the ID card will be confiscated from the student which will be handed over to the student on the same day with a warning and advice from the Disciplinary Committee Members.
- In case of any misbehavior or violation of the college rules, the ID cards of the students will be kept with the Disciplinary Committee Members till the enquiry is over.
- To enforce total prohibition of cell phone usage by the students in the class room.
- To monitor the movement of the students in the college and prevent students loitering around in the corridors during the college working hours.
- To ensure that students maintain complete silence in the library.
- To maintain proper discipline in the college canteen and student waiting room during the college working hours.
If any damage is caused to the college property by any student / group of students, the cost of the same will be recovered with a fine from the said student / group of this will be followed by disciplinary action.
If any indiscipline is found by any of the students, warn them on the first instance. Take disciplinary action based on the rules and regulations of the committee, if the pattern of misconduct continues.

Our organization has a well-defined feedback system in place of taking feedback from all stakeholders, namely, students, teachers, employers, parents and alumni once a year. HERITAGE CLUB
OVERVIEW OF THE CLUB
Many of our heritage treasures and traditional practices are taken for granted today by people, thereby, there is a need to sensitize the community towards our heritage through a chain of trainers, teachers and students. Hence, Shri Sangameshwara Arts and Commerce College, Chadchan has set up a ‘Heritage Club’. This shall enable not only to create heritage awareness amongst students but also involve students in maintaining and preserving our rich cultural heritage. Every student member of the Heritage Club shall thereby be motivated to participate in heritage conservation and learn about their local and natural surroundings.
OBJECTIVES OF THE CLUB
- To promote the idea of conservation of heritage through active participation of students
- To generate an accessible database on the tangible and intangible heritage of Chadchan, Vijaypura District,
- To sensitize students about the local culture, traditions and history through visits to heritage sites

Magazine Committee is formed to publish a periodical magazine that highlights staff /
students concerns and activities.
Objective:
- Provide a platform for students to express themselves through various forms of writing like research articles, comments on current topics, literary/creative writing

- Provide a medium for exchange of thoughts and information

NCC UNIT
Introduction
NCC Unit has been raised in 31st, May, 1991. NCC Unit is affiliated to 36 KAR BN NCC Vijayapura. The National cadet corps (NCC) has its genesis in the ‘University Corps’ which was created under the India Defence Act 1917 with the object to make up the shortage of the Army in 1920, when the Indian Territorial Act was passed, the ‘University Corps’ was replaced by the ‘University Training Corps (UTC) in 1942 the UTC was renamed as the University officers Training Corps (UDTC). The need to create a youth organization at National level to train the young boys and girls to be better citizens and future leaders of our great country in all walks of life, including Defence forces, was rightly realized by our leaders. A committee under Pandit HM Kunzru was set up in 1946 at the behest of our First Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The NCC Act XXXVI of 1948 under the Ministry of Defence (MOD).
The motto of the NCC is ‘Unity and Discipline’ which was adopted on 23rd December 1957 in living up to its motto the NCC strives to be and is one of the greatest cohesive forces of our nations, bringing together the youth hailing from different parts of our country and moulding them into united, secular and disciplined citizens of our nation.
Aims of N.C.C.
- To develop qualities of character, courage, comradeship, Discipline, Leadership, Secular outlook spirit of adventure and sportsmanship and selfless services among the youth to make then useful citizens.
- To create a Human resource of organized trained and motivated youth. To provide leadership in all walks of life, including the armed forces and be always available for the service of the nation.
- To create suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the armed forces.

NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME
National Service Scheme is the outcome of the idea of our father of nation; Mahatma Gandhi. The scheme was indented to realized the student their social responsibility and use their strength for the development of the society as well as to bring out the overall development of the student by enhancing their life skills. The scheme is implemented in India from 1969, in each university and college affiliated to them. Scheme is under the observation of Department of Youth Affairs and Sport, Government of India.
The extension and outreach activity of the collage is carried out under the NSS Unit, with a primary objective of arousing social consciousness and to provide the students with an opportunity to work with the community. In the process the unit also aims to enhance the personality of the participating volunteers. The activities of the unit are coordinated and monitored by a college level committee. However, the volunteers are given freedom to choose, decide and implement some special programmes, with a view to develop the leadership qualities. The volunteers are required to put in at least 120 hours of Social work in an academic year in various projects. The unit has made many collaborations.

- The motto of National Service Scheme is “NOT ME BUT YOU” in view of making the youth inspired in service of the people and hence NSS Aims Education through Community Service and Community Service through Education.

SC – ST CELL
Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) have been identified as the two most backward groups of Indian Society. They include all the castes, races or tribes, which have been socially, economically and educationally backward. The cell has been established to support and to bring students from such communities in the main stream. The SC/ST cell of the college was established with the purpose to empower the SC/ST students in the college. The college takes special interest in facilitating financial support to students from these communities from government agencies and other sources. They are also encouraged to enroll for career orientation programs, which would equip them with the necessary skills to choose a career option.
Objectives

SCHOLARSHIP CELL
A scholarship is an award of financial aid for a student to further his or her education. Scholarships are awarded based upon various criteria, which usually reflect the values and purposes of the donor or founder of the award.
The Student Scholarship Cell has been established to serve the purpose of providing help to students for their higher studies. The Cell aims high to give ample amount of help needed to the students through government grants, trust and foundation which provides various kinds of scholarships to students.
Objectives

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS (IPR) CELL
Creation of Cell
The Intellectual property rights cell has been setup in the college, to promote awareness on intellectual property and to encourage students towards creation of Intellectual property rights. The major objectives of the cell are to organize technical programs to generate awareness among staff on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and thus nurturing students as research scholars, technocrats, professionals, industrialists, grass root innovators, etc. It aims to increase the Intellectual Property output of the Staff and students by facilitating and guiding people from different walks of life. The cell will provide financial, technical and legal assistance for filling patents/ copyrights and facilitates to access patent related documents.
Intellectual Property rights strive to encourage, creativity and innovation, which in turn leads to generation of Intellectual property. Protection of Intellectual Property so generated is necessary to provide security, stimulation and incentives for sustained and enhanced output. The IPR Cell is constantly striving towards strengthening linkage with organizations to leverage its registered design further.
The Objectives of IPR Cell
- To promote academic freedom and safeguard the interests of inventor in creation and commercialization of intellectual property with legal support wherever necessary.
- To create an environment for acquiring new knowledge through innovation, develop an attitude of prudent IP management practices and promote an IPR culture compatible with the educational mission of the institute.
The Functions of IPR Cell include
- To work in co-ordination with cell formulated.
- To promote constant awareness about IPR.
- To engage in conduct IP workshop/ Seminars.
- To advice and guide students and faculty on the importance of IPR with the help of authorized patent anatomy.
- To participate in/ arrange periodic meetings of faculty members, to conduct development programs.
Responsibilities:
IPR Cell will be responsible for the following deliverables:
- Increasing IP awareness among faculty, staff & students within the institute.
- Managing and protection of the institutional IP through patenting and other IP forms.
- To encourage faculty staff and students towards object-oriented research at institute level.
- To fill gap between industry and academic institute in terms of IP utilization and commercialization.
- Provision of legal counsel in terms of IP issues and policy matters to institute faculty and students who involved in research.
- To pursue for MOU’s with industries with knowledge sharing.

ENTERPRENEUR DEVELOPMENT CELL
The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) was established with the object of promoting specialized knowledge in the field of entrepreneurship development. The aim of Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) is to develop and strengthen entrepreneurial qualities in the budding professionals who are interested in starting their own ventures. The purpose of the cell is to identify, inculcate, nurture, prepare and develop the student entrepreneur from “Job seeker to Job creator”. The EDC also assists all the aspirants with mentoring, planning and execution of their start up idea into a real business. Aspiring engineer entrepreneurs are groomed with the necessary inputs on how to be a successful entrepreneur through workshops and seminars by eminent people from the industry.
Objectives
- To foster better linkages between the Parent Institution, Industries and R&D institutions in the region and other related organizations engaged in promoting Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) including NGOs and other Voluntary Organisations.
- To act as an institutional mechanism for providing various services including information to budding student entrepreneurs.
- To conduct Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps (EAC) and Entrepreneurship Development Programs (EDP)
- To liaison with various external agencies, Institutions and others.
- Conduct training programs in the field of entrepreneurial skill development

SPORTS COMMITTEE
A Sport Committee is an organized hierarchal formation that exists to promote and develop interest in a particular sport or physical activity for the students. The Sport Committee comprised of a Sports committee Chairman, Physical Education Director and committee member’s one from each department. The Chairman of the committee serves primarily as an advisor and resource person for Sport Committee members and is available to assist representatives with committee business. It is the Physical Education Director’s responsibility to monitor the activities to ensure all college procedures are being followed, to assist committee in implementing sound safety practices, to assist managing funds in accordance with college fiscal policy, to facilitate sports activities and to ensure the policies and procedures are followed. The Director will allow committee as much freedom to operate as possible, provided they operate within the regulations and guidelines herein. The director shall recommend decisions to the Sport Committee chairman and the higher authority on sports items, participation, event conduction, budget, asset acquisition, resource hiring etc.
